What is this certification about, exactly?

The main purpose of this certification is to evaluate and validate the technical skills and moral commitment of locksmithing professionals. It goes through several Certification Modules, depending on the specific activity of your craftman.

 

Caution : No guaranty can be given about a craftman who validated such or such certification, that he/she will be able to repeat the same action in the exact same time and with the exact same quality of work. Indeed, every situation is different, and it is not possible to predict in advance the difficulty of the construction/repairing that you will ask him/her to deal with. This certification is mostly about validating skills in “normal” situations, as well as put aside dishonest or incompetent craftmens.

 

 

 

Common Module:

Respect of the law and good practices : every professional wishing to validate one of the following certification modules is remembered to his/her legal duties regarding locksmithing work. Also, good practices regarding moral are remembered to every attendee in order to make sure that nothing is left to fortuity.

Every attendee commits to respect this Law and Good Practices convention.

In case of acknowledged disrepect during the craftman’s activity, he/she will be removed his/her certification, with a note specifying his/her exclusion.

 

 

Opening Module:

This module, divided in 2 categories, allows the evaluation of every attendee in real situation.

Category 1:

• A simple lock must be openend in less than 30 minutes. Minor and justified deteriorations are allowed
• An unlocked day-latched door must be opened in less than 10 minutes without any deterioration

Category 2 : 

• A high security lock must must be opened in less than 60 minutes. Legitimate deteriorations are allowed

 

 

Installation Module:

This module allows to evaluate and validate craftman’skills at replacing or installing a lock according to the art rules.

• Replacement of a warded mortice lock by a europrofile mortice lock case
• Installation of a High Security rim lock with upper and lower bolts

 

Pinning Module

This module aims at the evaluation and validation of craftman’skills to make a series of keyed-alike europrofile cylinders and a simple masterkey system.

• Pinning of 3 keyed-alike euro profile cylinders
• Making of a simple MasterKey system for 3 cylinders

 

Duration

Each certification is valid for a period of 5 years. After this period, the professional can pass it again or bring the proof of regularly working in the situation of the certified skill in order to extend it.

 

 

Certification Card

Every certified attendee receives a “certified professionnal” card with his Photo, Name and Firstname, allowing him/her to prove his/her status of qualified crafman. This card is strictly personal and can be required by customers to confirm the quality of the working professional.
